Hello and welcome to Year 2! We are really looking forward to continuing and sharing in your learning journey this year and have planned plenty of lessons to engage, excite and inspire your learning. Our topic this term is called Coastline, where we will be learning all about the physical and human features of coastal regions across the United Kingdom, including a detailed exploration of the coastal town of Whitby, in Yorkshire.

P.E.

Monday a.m. Football - Outdoor with Mr Hardwick

Wednesday p.m. Ball Skills - Outdoor with Mr Hardwick

P.E. kit will be required, which should include jogging bottoms, jumper/hoodie, t-shirt and trainers. We recommend bringing a carrier bag too as trainers may get muddy and covered in grass.

Home Learning

Home learning will be given out on a Friday and expected to be handed in on the following Friday.

Additional Spelling and Maths work will be sent home weekly.

Topic home learning is set termly and we would love to see as many tasks completed from the Home Learning Ideas sheet as possible. This term our topic is Coastline, which focuses on direction, human and natural features and map work.

Spelling Shed is full of games, which are geared to encourage your child with spelling tricky and common exception words. Logins can be found in the front of your child's Home Learning book.

Reading Books will be changed once your child has finished reading their book. There is a box in each classroom for the children to put their book in. We would like to encourage children to change their book at least once a week to increase their reading fluency.

Bug Club is a great way for your child to continue improving their reading and comprehension skills. The bands correspond with the book band that your child is on in school and completing the quizzes by clicking on the Bug's face on pages throughout the books will improve your child's comprehension skills further. Logins were issued during lockdown but will be placed in the front of your child's Home Learning book.

Times Table Rock Stars and Numbots is a great way for your child to practise their times tables and number skills. Logins were issued during lockdown but will be placed in the front of your child's Home Learning book.
