Partial Reopening of School, 2 week phased approach

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

I hope you are remaining safe and well as we begin to return to a new kind of normal.

I wrote last week to outline the plan for re-opening school to years Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.  As you will remember there is a two-week staged approach to children coming in to school.  This is to ensure that we are minimising risk and keeping our school community as safe as possible.

From 1st June we will be extending our provision for priority groups.  These are key worker and vulnerable children.  If you have requested a place you will receive information from school about where to enter and drop off times etc.

Our two-week plan will begin on the 8th June in order to ensure that our building is well organised and ready to receive more children. Managing risk within the physical environment has meant that we have needed to make significant changes to ensure movement around the school and working spaces are in line with health and safety COVID 19 guidance.  In addition, we have organised for the school to be commercially de-contaminated.  Although this is not a requirement, it is an additional safety measure we have taken.

Our priority has always been the safety and well-being of all involved.  For staff and children there will need to be time to readjust to new ways of working, which is the case for many of you returning to work.  It is important for you as parents to feel confident that as a school we will be focused on helping children to adapt to new routines, looking after themselves whilst extending social bubbles and re-building relationships.

From 8th June we will begin our two-week phased approach

From the 1st June our new Head Teacher Mrs Gillian Deery will take up post.  We have been working very closely together to ensure a smooth transition. Mrs Deery is an experienced head with many successful years supporting schools and improving outcomes for children.  I am sure she will be happy at Potters Green, supported by a strong community of parents.

As this is my final newsletter, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the future. The school has been on a difficult journey in recent years and experienced much sadness.  The staff and community of people who work for the school, to support the school, have been such a strength in helping overcome the challenges faced.    I have really enjoyed being part of Potters Green’s journey and feel sure it will continue to go from strength to strength.

My sincere thanks and fond regards to Mrs King, and all the staff of Potters Green who have been a wonderful team to work with.

Thank you and God Bless
