Letter to Parents 2nd September 2020

Dear Parents

A warm welcome back to all of the children and our families at the start of this new academic year.  It has been a lovely first day back at school and the children are settling well.

Today was the first day that we welcomed all the children back at school.  Parents were informed via email, text and on the website as to the new arrangements for the staggered start and end times for the children which are different to the usual arrangements.  There were many children who were brought to school too early and were waiting until their allocated time.  The intention of the staggered start and end times is to avoid large groups congregating outside or within the school site.  The school needs parents to work with us to maintain social distancing for the pupils and themselves by adhering to the following requirements:

  • Children should only be brought to school at their designated times and not earlier or later.
  • Children should enter the designated school gates for their year groups.
  • Parents should maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Parents are not to wait around when their child has entered the playground and must leave the school site immediately (to enable social distancing to take place).
  • Please do not block the entrances to the school gates as other pupils are struggling to get onto the playground.

The guidance clearly states that parents/guardians are not permitted on the school site.  The school playground is part of the school site, which is used throughout the day by the children.

It is early days and we ask for co-operation from the parents to follow the timings of the day.  The school is constantly reviewing its procedures and protocols and parents will be informed of any changes.

Wraparound Provision

Before and after school wraparound is still available but parents must book in advance via email at Samantha.smith@pottersgreen.org.uk .  Bookings for a week ahead are to be emailed on a Wednesday or Thursday only.  The school has had to reduce the number of wraparound places as the guidelines indicate that no more than 15 children can be in a group.  The school are now using both halls to accommodate the two separate groups.  The maximum number of places are 30.
