I am writing to update you on the current position regarding children returning to school for the rest of this academic year. I hope this letter finds you and your family well and we look forward to the time when we return to a more normal way of living.
As you may already know the school has reopened to the year groups identified by the government (EYFS, Years 1 and 6). Parents were given two opportunities to request a place for their child in these year groups. If places have not been requested then children within those year groups cannot attend for the rest of this academic year. It is with regret that we are unable to offer places in the other year groups (Year 2 to 5). The school has not got the staffing capacity to have any other year groups return to school. We are not able to staff any more bubbles. However these year groups still have home learning with work set by the teachers accessed via the school website.
Priority remains with the keyworker children and we continue to offer this service until the end of this academic year. It is not expected that schools will be offering childcare for keyworker children in the summer holidays. However schools know as much as you do when watching the TV and listening to the announcements. We are not told in advance. If things change then we will inform you.
The children who have returned to school have been delightful. Although school is different at the moment it is still a warm and nurturing place. We have also used the time as having an opportunity to give the school a good spring clean and we have had some staff painting the courtyard which will be a lovely place to be when the children return to school.
We will continue to keep all our families in our thoughts and look forward to the time when more children will be returning to school.
