Your Year 2 teachers this year are Mrs Nowosad and Mrs Dickson in 2P and Miss Weaver in 2G. Mrs King also works in Year 2 on Wednesday afternoons. Our teaching assistants are Miss Ridler, Mrs Ferguene, Mrs Sheehan and Mrs Hine.
In Year 2 this term we will be learning all about the Great Fire of London and what caused it and why it spread so quickly. We will make models of the Tudor houses. The Fire Brigade are coming into school to talk to the children about Fire safety. During our Celebration of Learning the children will share with Year 1 their learning from this topic.
In Year 2 this term, we will be learning all about the Victorious Victorians particularly Queen Victoria, inventions and everyday life. We will make a moving toy, followed by a trip in March to St John's House Museum in Warwick, where the children will take part in several workshops. During our Celebration of Learning, parents will be invited in for a traditional afternoon tea and the children will share their learning from this topic.
In Year 2 this term, we will be learning about Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. We will be making junk model castles, building towers from sugar cubes, creating bridges from spaghetti and marshmellows, as well as learning about how these incredible structures were made. During June, we will be visiting Warwick Castle, where the children will be able to explore the buildings and life of an attacker and defender.
P.E. is on a Wednesday afternoon (Football) and a Thursday morning (Swimming). All children will need to bring outdoor kit and their trainers on a Wednesday and their swim wear and towel on a Thursday.
